Places used for people gathering for entertainment, worship, and eating or drinking. Examples: churches, restaurants (with 50 or more possible occupants), theaters, and stadiums.
Buildings intended for the production and viewing of performing arts or motion pictures (theaters, concert halls).
Buildings intended for food and/or drink consumption (restaurants).
Buildings intended for worship, recreation or amusement and other assembly uses not otherwise classified.
Buildings intended for viewing of indoor sporting events and activities with spectator seating (arenas).
Buildings intended for participation in or viewing outdoor activities (stadiums).
Central Station Fire Monitoring is Required for the following:
In accordance with 2021 International Fire Alarm Code, Fire Alarm Systems shall be monitored by an approved Central Monitoring Station in accordance with NFPA 72.

300 Occupants or more

Manual Fire Alarm System (Manual Pull Stations) that activates the Occupant Notification System.

Horns, Strobes and Sounder Requirement:
In accordance with 2021 International Fire Alarm Code, Fire Alarm Systems shall be monitored by an approved Central Monitoring Station in accordance with NFPA 72.
Voice Evacuation Speakers & Strobes Requirement:

Occupant Notification Guidlines
Public Mode Audible Requirements:
To ensure that audible public mode signals are clearly heard, you must have a sound level:
15 dB above the average ambient sound level
OR
5 dB above the maximum sound level
(whichever is greater) for at 60 seconds and measured at 5 ft above the finished floor in the area required to be served by the system.

Smoke Detection is required when:

Air Returns that exceed 2000 cfm.

Smoke Detectors are not required where air distribution systems are incapable of spreading smoke beyond the enclosing walls, floors and ceilings of room or space where the smoke is generated.

Smoke Detectors are not required where all portions of the building served by the air distribution system are protected by area smoke detectors connected to a fire alarm system.
Shutdown Requirements:
Smoke Detectors shall be connected to a Fire Alarm System when required and Shutdown air-distribution systems when activated.
